Curated by Mal Fostock himself, this deeply personal exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the artist’s world and creative journey. Celebrating the richness and diversity of his practice, it reflects a belief in the universal acceptance of all people—regardless of gender, colour, race, sexuality, or religion. At its core lies Mal’s conviction in the interconnectedness of all things, grounded in the principle of prior unity.
A multifaceted artist, Mal’s practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and photography, all rooted in a profound engagement with the human form and spirit. His work is not bound by medium but flows fluidly across disciplines—embracing both traditional techniques and contemporary technologies—to reflect the breadth of his inquiry into what it means to be alive and connected.
Mal studied at Wimbledon College of Art and the New York Studio School, having begun his artistic journey at St Paul’s School. Encounters with influential artists—including Francesco Clemente, Stanislav Frenkiel RWA, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, and Dame Elizabeth Frink—shaped his development.
For Mal, art is an embrace of life—a way to seek out what is essential and meaningful. People are central to his creative inquiry; he is drawn to the richness, diversity, and mystery of human presence. Whether in the quiet focus of the studio or the spontaneity of the street, he tunes into the individuality of his subjects, entering a space of deeper perception and feeling. Each encounter—through portraiture or photography—is a chance to honour the uniqueness of another, to capture a moment that might become an image, a story, a work of art.
Through Art I'm able to further explore and move beyond familiarity and participate in the world in a more magical way
